In 2022, GAF conducted sustainable operations assessments (SOAs) across each of its product category plants which identified opportunities to improve our environmental performance related to water, energy and waste. Learnings from the SOA will help GAF achieve at least an 80% waste diversion rate across our facilities and network of plants by 2030. By the end of 2022, 10 plants reported a waste diversion rate of 75% or higher – a 22% increase in the number of plants since last year. In order to achieve our goal, we are putting measures in place to increase operational waste diversion at all GAF plants and reduce post-manufacture waste. By 2025, we will baseline the waste diversion rates across our facilities and establish facility-level roadmaps to achieve an 80% waste diversion rate across our network by 2030.
