Employee Resource Groups

Employee Resource Groups help ensure voices across GAF have an opportunity to be heard and that we are creating space for different perspectives and opinions. GAF is proud to have seven Employee Resource Groups, including GAF VIBE (Veterans Involvement Brings Excellence) and GAF CAB (Caregivers Advancing Balance), which were founded in 2022. GAF VIBE, which started as a plant-driven effort, aims to create a space for veterans and military members to transition military values into GAF values. As our first veteran-focused ERG, the group kicked off by distributing a designed coin to self-identified veterans within GAF as an offer to join the group, tied to Veteran’s Day. GAF is proud to support VIBE’s outreach to veterans internally and externally to develop meaningful connections with the community and the roofing industry. In the face of a global supply chain crisis that led to a shortage in baby formula, the Caregivers Advancing Balance (CAB) ERG stepped up and coordinated access to 8,000 ounces (1,400 feedings) of baby formula. The ERG filled 100% of the needs within 72 hours of receiving a request, which is critical for parents of children who needed specific brands of formula to nourish their babies. Nearly 90% (88%) of the donations went to support employees in GAF manufacturing plants, to help alleviate their own challenges in accessing formula.

BUILD

BUILD (Black Employees United in Leading Diversity) is an important and safe space that was created to help the Black community feel supported and heard, and help others understand the importance of being an Ally to their Black colleagues to provide positive visibility for growth within GAF. We’re looking forward to engaging with more individuals on a deeper level to build more of that community that can help support one another in all endeavors.

WISE

WISE (Women Inspiring Sustained Equality) means community and opportunity to me – it represents a place where these amazing women can truly feel seen and recognize their own stories in others. Next year, we’re looking forward to welcoming new leaders and members to WISE as well as collaborating further with the other ERGs to support and celebrate our members to create a space where everyone feels like they belong.

CAB

CAB (Caregivers Advancing Balance) matters because we want to help our thousands of caregiving employees focus on their jobs without sacrificing their energy and time to be present with their loved ones at home. In 2023, we are excited to provide more opportunities for caregivers and focus on ensuring parents returning from family care or medical leave are set up to succeed, help tackle the growing epidemic of bullying and suicide and support those who face emotional, financial, legal and logistical challenges when caring for an aging and declining parent.

RAD

RAD (Rainbow Alliance for Diversity) creates an inclusive environment for all LGBTQ+ employees and their allies to bring their whole selves to a workplace that is reflective of their values – our membership increased in 2022 and we reformatted our meetings to be more conversational and community-driven. In 2023, we’re focused on educational/historical programming, pronouns campaign, podcasts – all to work toward our goal to empower and support our existing members in a safe space while also serving the greater GAF community.

ALT

ALT (Asians Leading Together) means to me that the company leadership supports and respects the cultural similarities and differences of the Asian American community. ALT works to create an engaged company culture and create a competitive advantage by tapping into GAF's talent pool and customer base.

GAF Latinos in Roofing

Last year, GAF proudly hosted the Latinos in Roofing Expo to celebrate and support Latino professionals in the roofing industry. The two-day event, hosted in Spanish, provided networking and business development opportunities to contractors from all over the United States to recognize shared experiences and learning about how others have struggled and overcame obstacles to success."For many [contractors], this was their first conference, so to be welcomed and treated to dinner while networking with others who look alike and who are going through the same struggle was something the industry needed,” said Roofing Specialist Marcos Sierra from the Sierra Group Roofing & Solar.
