About LIBERTY™ Asphalt Primer

LIBERTY™ Asphalt Primer is a foundation coating that promotes an excellent bond for all types of asphalt-based roofing materials, such as LIBERTY™ Self-Adhering Base/Ply Sheet & Cap Sheet.

Installation based on applicator type:

Roller: Apply smooth, heavy coat using parallel strokes for uniformity.
Brush: Apply smooth, heavy coat using parallel strokes for uniformity. If the first coat is fully absorbed, apply a second coat.
Spray: A high-quality 45:1 sprayer is recommended. Consult the manufacturer for optimum PSI, tip size, length of hose, and number of spray guns required for a uniform coat.pressure so that a bead of cement is visible at joint edge.

Create a strong bond for masonry roofs, walls, or floors prior to the use of asphalt cutback adhesives or application of hot-mopped or cold-applied built-up roofing materials.

LIBERTY™ SBS Self-Adhering Roofing System Installation — Step-by-step*

Step 1

Inspect the roof, and repair or replace damaged areas.
Step 2

Apply LIBERTY™ Asphalt Primer at a rate of a 1/2 gallon per 100 sq. ft.
Optional (for 2-ply system):

Install LIBERTY™ Self-Adhering Base/Ply.
Step 3

Install edge flashing at all eave and rake edges, and apply LIBERTY™ Flashing Cement on exposed flange.
Step 4

Install LIBERTY™ Self-Adhering Cap Sheet.
Step 5

Clean up by removing tools, unused materials, and other debris. Plan on inspecting roof annually if possible.
