Commercial roofing plant increases capacity to serve customers in the Midwest region

Parsippany, NJ (May 30, 2024) — GAF, a Standard Industries company and North America's largest roofing and waterproofing manufacturer, today announced that production has commenced on the company’s fifth polyisocyanurate (polyiso) insulation manufacturing plant in Peru, Illinois.

“Bringing another world-class manufacturing plant online is a significant milestone that strengthens our ability to deliver best-in-class service and innovative solutions across the Midwest and beyond,” said John Altmeyer, CEO of GAF. "This investment in added polyiso capacity further demonstrates GAF’s commitment to growth in the commercial roofing industry.”

The 450,000 sq. ft. Peru plant, which broke ground in 2022, has added 70 advanced manufacturing and engineering jobs to the local community. In addition to being a proud employer in the area, GAF is dedicated to becoming an integral part of the community and supporting the city and its residents. In October 2023, GAF donated all of the roofing material needed for the installation of the new roofs for Wellness and Recovery with Maitri (WARM), a local nonprofit organization dedicated to providing individualized, quality care for individuals struggling with addiction and mental health issues.

“The team we’ve assembled here in Peru is a perfect match for the culture of innovation and growth at GAF,” said Gary Ashley, Plant Manager, GAF-Peru. “We are excited to not only start up this new facility but also to serve and support the city as proud members of the community.”

GAF’s state-of-the-art Peru facility is producing the company’s EnergyGuard™ line of polyiso insulation products, including EnergyGuard NH (Non-Halogenated) boards made with non-halogenated flame retardants, custom and tapered design boards, as well as composite board offerings. Polyiso is a versatile, high-performance insulation solution commonly used in commercial roofing systems. It is often used in sustainable or green building applications. All polyiso roofing insulation manufactured by GAF has received GREENGUARD Gold certification, which means it has been tested against standards and proven to have low emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

The company also manufactures GAF EnergyGuard™ Polyiso Insulation at its facilities in Cedar City, Utah; Gainesville, Texas; Statesboro, Georgia; and New Columbia, Pennsylvania locations.
